New digital infrastructure for your town
In 2023 and 2024, towns across Powys are becoming more ‘Smart’ as Powys County Council installs new town centre public Wi-Fi and the open data platform Patrwm, providing independent and small businesses with tools typically reserved for large retail chains and online platforms.
The latest towns to benefit from this new infrastructure include Builth Wells, Llanfyllin, Newtown, Talgarth and Welshpool.
The initiative is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and complements the Welsh Government-funded Smart Towns Wales programme.
Online briefing sessions
Visit the page for your town (links below) to watch a recording of an online briefing delivered in late-November 2024.
The briefing provides more information about the new public Wi-Fi and a demonstration of how to use the open data platform Patrwm to view data about your town and compare it to others in Wales.
Smart Town Action Plans
Alongside this, Owen Davies Consulting will work with local stakeholders in the towns to explore and plan for how taking a Smart Towns approach can help their place now and in the future.
